Hay / Straw / Shavings

Hay
We have been producing quality hay since 2012.  Each year our product has increased in forage quality for several reasons.  When first beginning, the pastures on our farm had not been adequately maintained for at least a decade.  Good quality grass and legumes usually get overtaken by less desirable grasses when regular mowing does not take place.  Regular mowing actually negates the need to spray herbicides (which kill clover and other broadleaf legumes) because it is hard on the root reserves of the undesirable weeds and grasses, while allowing desirable forage to flourish.  We have not sprayed our hay since the 2013 season.  Good quality grasses have greatly increased in quantity and clover has made a comeback.

We have two kinds of hay:  Pasture Grass and Timothy/Pasture Grass.  Both grasses are great quality forage that is sound for horses.  We have many satisfied customers.

We bale our hay into small square bales (18x18x32 approx.).  Our hay bales are consistently about 40 pounds.  This size/weight is perfect for use in stables where carrying by hand is required.  The bales are dense and stack well, but are not so heavy one person struggles to move them.

Our hay is sold both by the bale and by the ton for large loads that we deliver.  Our prices are market based, and therefore change occasionally.   For the first half of 2016 we are charging $5.25/bale for pasture grass hay.  Pickup at the farm in Fivepointville is By Appointment and Delivery is available for a reasonable mileage based fee FOB Fivepointville PA.  Our delivery includes unloading but not stacking.  If you desire stacking we can discuss a charge for this service.  If you are interested in our hay, or for more information, call or email us to discuss current prices/delivery.
